1. BORING
The NFL is sure glad they didn't make last week's Ravens vs Jets game the Sunday Night or Monday Night
game. It what may go down as the most boring game of the 2005 season, the Ravens rushed 40 times,
the Jets got 5 first downs, and the most exciting play of the day was when Todd Heap made a tackle after a
fumble recovery by NY. All the hype the NFL has garnered for itself over the last ten years could be in
jeopardy if parody in the league results in more match-ups like this one.
2. Land of Giants
Does anyone think that Eli Manning was picked on his first year of High School because he was Peyton's little
brother and had big ears? Then, in his sophomore season threw for 125 touchdowns and led his team to the
Louisiana High School championship, at which point everyone started to like him and girls started ignoring his
big ears. Sounds familiar? Watch our ladies!
3. Rackin' it up in Mexico
If 5SS came back last week on the heels (well actually the toes) of Neil Rackers, not only would it have been
one of the most dramatic, unlikely comebacks in league history, but kickers around the league would feel that
they may no longer be ignored in the pages of Fantasy Football guides. Alas, 22 points was not enough, but
6 field goals at 2-mile high is pretty damn good. Think it was the soccer gods looking down upon him?
4. Streaking
Lucky Nomads. It is worth noting that I have had an opposing player score 4 or more touchdowns in a game
in each of the last 3 weeks. Dnabb, Alexander, Peyton....whose next?
5. I feel better knowing that I'm not a Jets fan
At least Cardinal fans don't expect much. And Pats fans have had their day in the sun. And Giants fans now
have a Manning of their own. And Detroit has hockey back. And Houston has the Astros. But if I'm a Jets fan,
im thinking, in a year when the Dolphins may win the AFC East, in a year when I am primed to make a run at
the Super Bowl, and in a year that may be the last for Curtis Martin, im thinking Joe Namath may be the next
option on the couch next Vinny. What a mess.
