1. The Departed - Hands down my favorite movie the year and possibly my favorite in the last 5 or 6.

2. Pans Labyrinth - No movie stayed with me longer than this one.  It is one of the rare films where your brain can't
even believe your eyes.  The images are amazing and the performances are just as good.

3. Letters from Iwo Jima – A fabulous directing effort from Clint Eastwood, which should give him the best director
award at the Oscars.  Ken Watanabe and Kazunari Ninomiya carry the two and a half hour feature, the best war film
since “Saving Private Ryan.”

4. Children of Men - One of the most thought-provoking films you will see.  Directed with slick execution by Alfonso
Cuaran (Harry Potter 3 and Y Tu Mama Tambien), Clive Owen and Michael Caine rule their scenes.  The top 3 films
of this year were better than my favorite film of last year, "Munich."

5. Little Miss Sunshine - Probably the most fun you'll have at a movie theatre this year, there's not a second of this
movie in which I am not smiling.

6. Casino Royale - I've had time to think about it and Royale is the best Bond movie I've ever seen.  The
performances and action are first rate and I can't get over my new #1, Eva Green.

7. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan - Despite being
overrated as the funniest movie in the last decade, Borat still gave me the biggest laughs of the year.  It's nice to see
Sacha Baron Cohen getting some acting props for his performance, which clearly no one else could do.

8. The Prestige - The end to The Prestige has stayed with me months after I've seen it, which is all that needs to be
said.  But the performances of Bale and Jackman are first rate and the mood that Christopher Nolan sets is
delightfully spooky.

9. Superman Returns - The best superhero flick of the year and the best since Spiderman 2 dropped two years
ago.  Call me old fashioned but Superman is still the best.  I loved the performances (especially by Spacey and
Marsden) and thought the script was great.  I'm glad that the sequel was picked up.

10. Inside Man - The first movie of the year that I really enjoyed (this flick came out in March) has managed to stay
in the top ten.  Spike Lee really directs a fantastic caper film with great performances by Owen (again) and Denzel.
Most of the credit belongs to Lee though, as he constructed a film that kept you guessing until the very end.  Bonus
points for the use of a rabbi in the movie.
