Two weeks left. It can mean several things. If you are already in – it can be 2 very long, boring weeks waiting for the playoffs to begin. If you are already
out – it is 2 of 40 very long weeks ahead waiting for next year’s draft. And if you are on the bubble – you begin to pay attention to how the other games are
being played out. A win isn’t necessarily a win, if someone else also wins and knocks you out! Sometimes games you are not involved in hold more
importance than the one you have control over. It is a cruel time of year and you realize that those 10 points you missed in Week 4 can come back and
really, really hurt you!
This week’s rundown:
Nose – BushMaroney’07
I am ranking this as the week’s biggest match-up. Niether team can be eliminated with a loss and neither team can eliminate another team with a victory.
BM can clinch a playoff spot with a victory. Nose is in a very important position as the only team with 5 wins. While Nose does not technically eliminate any
team with a win – a win here puts him at 6 wins (the maximum win total for the three ‘4-win’ teams), and a 100 point lead over Google; a win by Nose makes
it very unlikely that a 4-Win team will sneak in. If Nose loses and FBC and 5SS win – the loser of the Horses-Nomads match-up this week must lose in Week
13 or Nose is out.
The Next Google – Fighting Blue Crabs
ME MUST WIN. Us ‘4-Win’ teams are in a bit of a predicament. A loss this week or next and we are eliminated. FBC has the lowest point total of the ‘6-Win’
teams and currently holds the sought after (by those below him) and dreaded (because the Bandit’s likely first round opponent) position. The Match-up of
the Week (see above, dummy) holds sway over both of these teams. If Nose wins, Google is in for a tough battle. But if Nose loses and FBC wins, FBC is in.
Five Second State – anti-trust
A similar match-up to Google-FBC. A ‘6-winner’ vs. a ‘4-winner’. Lose, and anti-trust is out – whether it be this week or next. 5SS is not in with a win – but a
win in combination with a Nose loss – then you are in. I don’t think a lot of people will be rooting for you this week, Jarrett. Sorry buddy!
New Jersey Jacobins – Baltimore Tools
Jacobins is buried in the sand as Marc illustrated on our webpage. The Jacobins have officially been eliminated from contention. With 2 wins and a
maximum of 4 if they run the table will not be enough to qualify for the post season. Fortunately there is still something to play for – passing the depression
and frustration to others. A win by the Jacobins will eliminate the Tools from the playoff run. The Tools are in a tough place with less than 1000 points.
They must win out in order to have a chance.
Shermtanks – Random Thoughts
Random Thoughts is out and this week he plays Shermtanks, who is pretty close to being in. A win and Shermtanks plays in week 14. A loss won’t eliminate
him, but next week he plays the Bandits – so things could get close if Random comes up with a win this week!
Born to Run My Mouth – Brock’s Bandits
Two asterisk boyos. The Bandits can fall no lower than the 4th seed and more than likely, the lowest Born can fall is 6th. This match-up is more about
playoff seeding – a win will guarantee the Bandits a 1st seed.
Hungry Horse – Nomads in the Deep
Two ‘6-win’ teams face each other this week and next week, the Nomads face another in FBC. The winner puts himself in very good position for the
playoffs. No one is in or out based solely on this matchup. But the winner is in if Nose loses to BM.
No team is safe. Every team from the Tools all the way up to BM can still make it and still not make it. While help may be needed in some cases a win
keeps you (technically) alive for one more week. Remember to include the ROFF in all Thanksgiving Graces. You have a better chance of winning that way.
Have a Great Thanksgiving!
