Keepers: Willis McGahee and Daunte Culpepper.
I think McGahee is going to be the 3rd best fantasy RB ahead of Holmes, b/c you have to waste a pick on LJ if you
have Holmes. Culpepepper will be fine w/o Moss. Another year as the second best fantasy QB in the league (I don’t
care what his stats were last year when Moss was injured). Mark my words……….Burleson will be the #1 fantasy
receiver this year.
Grade: A-
Draft:
QB: David Carr
A decent backup who many believe could have a breakout year. Still gets sacked too much, but he’s nothing more
than a one week replacement.
Grade: B-
RB: DeShaun Foster, Thomas Jones, LaBrandon Toefield.
This group of RB’s consists of guys with a lot of question marks and who have a lot of competition. Foster is
talented, but is injury prone and has a healthy Davis to worry about. As of now, he’s not even the starter. Jones is
the incumbent starter, but not for long (I predict he’s out by week 5). Toefield is only valuable if Fragile Freddy goes
down (which I will go against popular belief and say he stays healthy the whole year). Plus, I think he won’t be the
starter if Taylor does get hurt. Keep an eye on a guy name Alvin Pearman. (Sidenote: Nick pick up of Willie Parker
off free agency.)
Grade: C
WR: Darrell Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, Plaxico Burress, Antonio Bryant, Matt Jones.
Jackson posts excellent numbers, but drops way too many passes. Simply frustrating. Plus he has no solid threat
lining up opposite him. Fitzgerald is the gem of the bunch. He will take the next step to elite receiver status. He’s my
pick to be this year’s Javon Walker. Burress is a great #3 fantasy receiver. Could find a nice connection with Eli.
Bryant has had great reports out of preseason camp, but he’s still on the Browns and Dilfer is no Joe Montana. Matt
Jones could be valuable next year, but right now I think Josh just picked him b/c everyone else wanted to say his
name (since it sounds like Mike Jones. Seriously, half of you don’t even know who Mike Jones is. Don’t act like you
do.).
Grade: B+
TE: Dallas Clark.
With Pollard out of the way, he could be primed for a big year in the powerful Indy offense. However, he still has
lingering injury concerns and could be inconsistent.
Grade: B+
K: Matt Stover.
Ravens rarely score TD’s, but usually score FG’s.
Grade: B
DEF: Minnesota
The sleek sleeper pick among defenses. Still unproven and Jacksonville was the sleeper pick last year. Look how
they turned out. Could get a lot of turnovers if the offense gets ahead quickly. Problem is nobody has seen the
defense complete yet due to some injuries (most notably to Fred Smoot).
Grade: B-
Best Draft Pick: Larry Fitzgerald
Worst Draft Pick: DeShaun Foster
Team Strenghts: QB and WR
Team Weaknesses: RB (although things could work itself out as the Willie Parker pickup will help for the
first two weeks)
Key to Success: DeShaun Foster. He could be the starter later in the season, since Davis is injury prone.
If/when he starts, the guy is capable of 3 TD’s and 200 yards a game. But has never been able to stay
healthy himself. If he’s the former, look for Josh to repeat his last year’s regular season. If not, that could
mean the first time Josh misses the playoffs.
Overall Grade: B
