Keepers: Peyton Manning and Jamal Lewis.
Peyton has elevated himself to among the top 4 fantasy players and people would actually consider taking him
instead or after LT. Lewis could be primed for a big year, b/c as Bill Simmons said getting out of prison puts a lot
stress behind you.
Grade: A+
Draft:
QB: Brian Griese
A decent backup considering this is a deep league, but Peyton is the man and he rarely misses a game. But if he
does……………Jason better hope he’s getting the Griese that played well last year and not the one that played for
Miami.
Grade: C
RB: Michael Bennett, Cedric Benson, Chester Taylor.
Bennett is a gamble. He could be the man or the chump. I don’t care what reports are, I think Mewelde Moore is the
man. Bennett appears to be just fast, but not be a natural football player. Moore is. This could be a bust and the
pick the Jason complains about till the end of the year. Benson was a nice pick since he coincidentally signed his
contract during our draft weekend. He won’t start right away, but will be this year’s Julius or Kevin Jones. Could be a
nice guy to have at the end of the season. Plus, he’s a solid keeper. Taylor is the handcuff pick, but not really
necessary. Nobody else would have taken him. But I guess you can’t be too safe.
Grade: C+
WR: Hines Ward, Eric Moulds, Brandon Lloyd, Terry Glenn, Samie Parker.
Ward is highly underrated, but he seems to be justly rated low this year. Possibly b/c Big Ben doesn’t look good.
Also, possibly b/c the Steelers don’t have a solid #2 at WR (Wilson and Randle-El still have to prove themselves).
But he should still rack up the receptions, just don’t expect too many TD’s. Moulds is like Jimmy Smith. Getting older
and seeing his numbers decline. He’s also a decent receptions guy, but look for most of the TD’s to go to McGahee
or Lee Evans. Plus Losman doesn’t look ready yet. The other guys are all nice sleepers who could be busts and
dropped by week 4 or turn into nice starters. Lloyd plays for a bad team and when Alex Smith does start look for his
numbers to take a huge hit. Samie Parker will be very inconsistent (one game he’ll has 2 TD’s and 100 yards, the
next he’ll have 1 catch for 3 yards. In other words, he’ll be very frustrating). The guy to watch is Glenn. He has
looked good so far and if he can regain that magic with Bledsoe, then he’s a solid #3 receiver. Problem is that was
almost 10 years ago for both of them.
Grade: B-
TE: LJ Smith.
A solid pick that could benefit from Pinkston’s injury and the uncertainty of the rest of the teams WR’s. Especially, if
Owens is suspended or hurt, he will see a rise in his stock.
Grade: B+
K: Jeff Reed.
Solid kicker, who plays for a contending team that could end up kicking a lot of FG’s.
Grade: B
DEF: Philadelphia and Kansas City Defense.
Philly always seems to be overlooked, but performs well. But losing Corey Simon, cutting Hugh Douglass could be a
huge blow. KC has made many additions in the offseason, but is still unproven. At least Jason gave himself the
option to alternate based on matchups (even though I don’t like holding two defenses on one roster).
Grade: B
Best Draft Pick: Cedric Benson
Worst Draft Pick: Michael Bennett
Team Strenghts: QB
Team Weaknesses: Something just doesn’t excite me about the WR core. (RB could be a weakness if
Benson and/or Bennett do not come around).
Key to Success: Michael Bennett.
Jason will be left will a big hole at #2 RB if Bennett falters. Benson won’t be ready until week 6 or so. But J.
Lewis could carry the team by himself.
Overall Grade: B
