Only four more weeks….I think I can make it.
FOOTBALL IN CENTRAL PARK:
I don’t know about you guys who played, but am I the only who was hurting the next day?......My legs and hands were killing me, but it was worth it.
Victory goes to the non-roommates: 8-7.
Highlights include:
- Scott Watson doing his best Doug Flutie impersonation. Not once, but twice.
- Brian Sherman going all out; not once, not twice, but everytime the ball was thrown his way.
- Me getting a little to up close and personal with Jason Sherman. In my defense, I slipped…
- Jay Cantor impressing the ladies with his battle scars. The cut wasn’t that impressive, but the catch the caused it was.
- Marc Epstein taking his anger out on yours truly.
- And Navid Sadri pulling off the Music City Miracle. Although I still believe it was a forward pass.
Next game…thanksgiving weekend. Turkey Bowl is on bitches!!!
SWITCHING COLUMNS
I haven’t heard much response to the switching of columns last week. I thought it was a great idea and loved what everyone did with each other’s
column. Although it made me realize a few things:
- My column is truly pointless.
- My column is a cross between the Orange Peel (Marc’s blog) and Jay’s WGLPT. If you really think about it, I just write notes on each team, but I
don’t rank them.
- I find it funny that when Marc has a random stream of consciousness, the first thing he thinks of is ‘Potato”.
- My worst fear has come true…Marc writes my column better than me.
- I repeat the same things over and over again. (Although in my defense, you try coming up with stuff to write about each team each week.)
- I don’t like to talk about my team.
So let’s change the last one.
It’s been a tough season for me. First Steven Jackson went down. But Ronnie Brown made up the slack. Then Ronnie Brown went down. Just in time for
Steven Jackson to return. I’ve only had both guys playing at the same time three times this year (the first three weeks of the season).
Calvin Johnson hasn’t really lived up to the hype. I bought in foolishly and will live to regret not taking Braylon Edwards. Although Reggie Brown (who I
wouldn’t want if we were creating a team where everyone had to have the last name Brown) hasn’t been great either. So given the choice b/w Brown
and Edwards or Brown and Johnson, I guess I lose either way. I still believe Calvin will be great in 2009, if not next year. So I’ll be glad I drafted him, just
not glad during his rookie year.
Philip Rivers is a horrible player. Remember all that talk about him being better than Eli Manning. Yea, I don’t see it. They guy has no poise, can’t take
advantage of a defense carrying eight guys in the box, and turns the ball over so many damn times, I’m inclined to believe he forgets which team he
plays on.
It’s a shame too, because Jason Witten was a great draft pick. What a waste of a great draft pick.
Throw in a great kicker in Gostkowski, who scores almost 10 points on PATs alone.
Tough year. Tough two years as a matter of fact. Next year, I’ll be taking a QB early. I haven’t had a good QB since I snagged Marc Bulger off waivers
in 2002. That was the year I made the finals. I know that’s irrelevant, but I just wanted to end on a positive note.
Now did any of you really want to read that?
AND THAT IS WHY I NEVER WRITE ABOUT MY TEAM…
Final thoughts:
- I would like to send out my sincere apologies to Jay Cantor. I hope Adrian Peterson’s injury is not severe. The guy is an amazing player and I love
to watch him play, even if he is on your team and not mine.
- Chris’ game was like a forfeit. He might as well not even bother showing up. But he is still the team to beat.
- I think Marc is really pissed off at me…in retrospect I probably should have made the trade. Oh well, it’s over with. Although I doubt Marc will ever
trade with me again.
- I’m surprised people haven’t started grabbing backup RB’s just to be safe. As Adrian Peterson, Ronnie Brown, and Steven Jackson have
shown…all it takes is one bad break and you’re screwed. And you don’t want to be caught trying to grab the backup off waivers during playoff
time.
That’s all I got. I’ll go back to my original format next week.
My prediction of the week:
Like Johnny Drama said…VICTORY!!!
I HOPE YOU ALL LOSE…just kidding. Just making sure you all are paying attention. GOOD LUCK!!!
