I didn’t have much to say this week. I almost wasn’t going to write (especially considering Scott Watson was not going to read anyway). But I couldn’t let
my faithful readers down.
So, I’ll just run a quick rant then get to some football thoughts.
Ok, so there are a million fantasy sports writers. I get that. Heck, I read half of them religiously. But do these writers really have to give you advice on
whom to sell high/sell low and how to propose the trade. For example, the big trade in the NFL this week was Chris Chambers going to the San Diego
Chargers. The consensus opinion is that the trade diminishes his fantasy values. So Andy Behrens of Yahoo! Sports suggest, “talk up the Chargers
potent offense. Emphasize the fact that Philip Rivers is a huge improvement over Trent Green and Cleo Lemon. But definitely try to package Chambers
for something better, and soon.”
Great advice Andy. But do you really think that only the people who own Chris Chambers will read your article? By writing that, aren’t you ruining any
chance of such a deal being made? I mean can I really email that exact quote to a fellow league member who needs a wide receiver and actually pull it
off? If so, can I just stamp ‘sucker’ on said league owners’ forehead, right now?
And I could name a player on everyone’s team that falls into the same situation. I understand the writers are trying to help and they are paid to write
about fantasy football. But it’s hard enough to trade as is. Don’t make it more difficult.
Quick ROFFL Thoughts:
- Chris Brockman: Like I said. 12-1. No defense can stop Brady.
- Josh Lukin: I don’t think people are giving the guy enough credit. He’s 5-1 and a definite frontrunner for the trophy. He gets somewhat lost in
Brock’s great start.
- Rich Kiss: I love it when Rich gets angry and posts an obscenity filled message about a player. I think the league should get into cahoots and
trade him the all time busts team, just so he can post these types of messages all days long. Imagine if he had Drew Brees, Lee Evans, Reggie
Brown, Darrell Jackson to go along with Shaun Alexander. That’s like an alley-oop for an all time classic post.
- Navid: The guy is having a down year by all accounts and he is still over .500 and an almost guaranteed lock to make the playoffs. Give him his
credit.
- Jay: Adrian Peterson has supplanted LaDainian Tomlinson as the #1 keeper. Who would you want for the next three years? That raises the
question; will Darrell McFadden, Mike Hart or Ray Rice be as good as Peterson when they get drafted?
- Jarrett: I like the Priest Holmes signing. I think it’s worth the gamble.
- Gregg: If he ever read one of my articles, the feeling I would get would be the equivalent of winning the trophy.
- Jason: 150 points later and the league is officially on notice. He’s a sleeping giant no more. Shermtanks is wide awake.
- Nick: He drops Vince Young when everyone else in the league would just bench him. And the next week the guy gets hurt. I don’t know if that’s
luck or just knowing when a guy is a lost cause. But Nick definitely has the magic touch.
- Scott: MJD is going to go on a ten week tear where he will finish as the #3 RB in all of fantasy over that time period (after Tomlinson and
Peterson). I guarantee it.
- Parker: Addai and Westbrook are similar players. Both are dual threats out of the backfield, but they also have a propensity to get nicked up and
be questionable week in and week out.
- Marc: Cleo Lemon was a great last minute pickup. That makes two weeks in a row that Marc has the pickup of the week (Kris Brown and then
Lemon).
- Dave: Poor Dave. McNabb is a shell of his former self. Andre Johnson went from being out for 2 weeks to 5 weeks. Travis Henry got caught
smoking pot. And yet, I don’t think he will end up with the TB.
Guys, that’s all I got this week. Sorry for the short column. I didn’t have much else to say. I was this close to copying and pasting an old article from 2005
and hoping that nobody would notice.
Good luck to everyone this week.
