What up people!? We’re almost at the half way point and even the guy who WAS running away with the league – Brock – is no longer doing so. There
are 10 – TEN – guys knotted up at 2-3 and no one looks to be breaking from the pack anytime soon, seeing as we only have three games with 2-3 vs
2-3 coming up this weekend. In fact, there could be a few 3-3’s and 4-2’s after this weekend. At least I hope so. (It would suck to have some 5-1's and
some 2-4's)
A few quick hits BEFORE the quick hits.
- This past week marked Brock’s first loss in a Week 5 game EVER. Lukin continues to be undefeated in a Week 5 game (and a Week 1 game
and a Week 12 game…)
- Brock is now 22-13 in Week’s 1 thru 5 lifetime. But the second half of the season is coming up, and he only has a 37% win percentage in the
last seven weeks.
- On the flip side, Nick’s win this past week increases his win percentage in the first six games of the season to just 34%. It’s slightly better in the
last weeks where he has won 46% of those games.
An now the games:
BALTIMORE GETS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN AT THE EXPENSE OF GOOGLE (RELAX, THEY CAN AFFORD IT)
- While headed home from Connecticut (where I got to baby-sit my two devil nieces – seriously, how do two little girls have SOOOO much energy?
Oh right, the candy) I was fortunate to listen to ESPN Radio. After the early games, they decided to interview some players. First up: Kris
Brown. The announced wondered how the Tennessee team held up against such a tough Atlanta team. At which point Kris announced, “Um,
this is Kris Brown from Houston.” Fucking hilarious. But an embarrassing moment for ESPN and the Tools. Sure no one thought my boy could
do it. But when he saw Trent go down (bye buddy – we’ll always have ’05), he stepped it up with the best day for kickers this year. Three from
50+ got me 23 and just enough to pull off the win.
- What happened to Clinton Portis? We all knew he would be limited this year thanks to Ladell Betts, but even Betts isn’t getting the numbers.
- That San Diego D is giving you a rough ride Scott. Watch out.
- A final thanks to Kris Brown. You’re a beautiful soul.
SIX POINTS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD
- What can you say about two teams that had a combined 13 players go into double digits? Special shout out to Burress (19) and Campbell (26)
who lead their teams.
- Speaking of Campbell – Nice job in as a fill in for Palmer. If you don’t count that sick game against the Browns earlier in the year, it was the best
outing by a BM07 QB this year.
- Cantor’s team had the goods. Consider that he got 112 with his two top RB’s on a bye week.
- I’m excited for Josh: The week that BOTH Bush AND Maroney actually have good game will be one fun week. Actually, knowing this league it'll
probably come right in time for the playoff run.
RANDOM SHUTS DOWN THE BOSS
- Brock was finally silenced thanks to the Cleveland D who finally did something no one else could: Controlled Randy Moss (much to the benefit
on the Tool’s Stallworth - thanks Brownies!)
- Brock has been joking that he doesn’t need a third WR. Well, Holmes got you 0 points which is LIKE having no WR. And you lost. Guess you
wish you had that third WR.
- Kenton Keith (27), pickup of the year?
- Congrats to Brian whose two game winning streak has pushed him into 6th (tied for 5th with everyone else) place. The TB is looking like it’ll
have to find a new home (hopefully not mine – pick it up Sherman!)
- Ronnie Brown is about to become EVEN more of a work horse. If Rivers indeed has his act together, the playoffs could be calling Mr. Random
- The Dallas D: I love the fact that the O sucked enough to give up the touchdowns themselves and not make the D suffer. 15 from Dallas’ D
seems ridiculous, but AWESOME.
NOMADS PULL OFF THE CLASSIC 3-POINT WIN
- I’ll have to look into it, but I wonder just how many games the Nomads have won by less than 5 points. I think it might be a lot.
- Dave: No need to fear the Marc-den Curse. It’s a myth. PS – Sorry you lost. I thought you had it buddy!
- Nomads: Ride Crayton like he is Steve Smith 2005.
- Kitna had a season low 2.85 points. No worries – Next week is a bounce back week. Just watch.
- Tennessee 21 vs Atlanta? Is it too late to pick up the team playing ATL next week??! (Probably, knowing this league)
WHAT THE CRAB HAPPENED?
- If you could see my head right now, you’d see it shaking in disgust. Bruce? Cater? I know you couldn’t have guessed Lewis and Jones would
be bad, but Bruce and Cater? Dude. (PS: It is hilarious that Bruce – who didn’t play – still got more points than the Denver D, who finished in the
negatives)
- Speaking of Gregg’s team, I’m a little annoyed that, had Manning not scored 23 and Watson not exploded for 25, Gregg would have gotten
around 40 points, which would have been the lowest in YEARS.
- Not that it took much to beat Gregg’s team, I have to give props to Nick ,who’s Wayne, Jackson, Jacobs (welcome back) and Gates are keeping
him breathing in the league.
MARSHAWN ON MONDAY NIGHT
- Even though the lead was SMALL going into Monday Night, you have to figure that Jason had… hope. Hope is sometimes enough. Not this
week. Marshawn did the job he needed to do.
- Nice outing by Nose – Eli started off bad, but redeemed himself (thanks mainly to Burress fancy running) to get 19. Add on a WR core worth 43
and it was a good day.
- What happened to the Tanks? Only two players went into double digits this week: Fitz and LT. Brees is back to how he was in SD, and Fast
Willie didn’t get the TD’s (f'ing Davenport).
- LenDale White’s first showing for Nose in Week 3 netted him 11 points. This week? 0.13. I would be cautious.
- Welcome back LT! 12 points isn’t status quo, but if he had busted off the big run and not Turner, this could have been a Tanks win. It’s only a
matter of time before he reverts back into Superman… right?
KISS PICKS UP THIRD IN A ROW
- What up, Parker? Are you getting upset that I keep saying I think this is your year? So you go out and score no points? I mean Michael Turner’s
(LT’s BACKUP!!!) 15 points was more than all your WR’s combined! Pep it up or I’m going to have to eat A LOT of words.
- Kiss, Kiss, Kiss… Dude. Shaun is pathetic. And yet… Romo. ROMO. ROMO. Five picks. One fumble. 15 points. Amazing.
- Ike Hilliard is still alive?
- Rich said this to me earlier today: "I have as many wins this year as i did last year.... and as many as i did the year before that! This is really the
best thing to happen in my life... and I'm not sure I'm exaggerating by much" (and this was on IM, so it's a direct quote!!!)
- Shaun and the Chicago D have really under-performed this year. Can you imagine if Rich had the ’05 Alexander and ’06 Bears on his team?
Man…
Best of luck to everyone this week.
Swami, 3-4 again last week, will be have predictions entered by the Saturday night
