Dominance. I’m not really sure what else you call it.
While a few close games caught the eye (Colt’s beating fair by 11, Nomads squeaking out a 5 point victory over the Tools), the real story here was the
absolute dominance of the Tanks over the Jacobins, Double G over Stare, Coffee over Pigs and the massacre that was Born beating Crabs.
Without further ado:
Nomads Maintain Lead to Beat Tools on Monday
Seriously – Garfield had it right. I hate Mondays. Thanks to an atrocious performance from the Tool’s Pats D (the ONE TIME in two years the Dolphins
don’t let me down had to be the day I was hoping they WOULD let me down), Nomads had a 20-point lead going into Monday night. With no one left to
go, all Nomads could do is sit there and watch as Tool’s sent the Jet’s Thomas Jones and the Chargers’ Antonio Gates into the field. And what did they
do? JACK SHIT! I mean COME ON! The final score of the game was 48-29! That’s a lot of points to put on the board and not have to impact players
participate. Ugh. With bye weeks coming up, I’m starting to think that Dave might not be the only two-time Toilet Bowl winner…
Stare Drops to 0-3
Where, oh, where has the Jason Cantor team of ol' gone? Personally, I think it’s a direct connection to the fact that he hasn't done a WGLPT this
year? Off to his worst start EVER, Cantor faced a Double G team that has been good (112-points in Week 2) and bad (just 67 opening day). Had
Cantor played Scott either of those weeks, he would have won. But he didn't. He got him on the week that Peterson had no TD’s and Patrick Crayton
and Zack Miller zero’d out while Scott got a heaping of support from Jones-Drew and Clinton Portis. Cantor’s faced some bad luck this season and I’m
pretty sure he has never been in 14th place before. But he’s a two-time ROFF Bowl winner – I’m excited to see if he can turn this season around
(maybe writing a WGLPT will help?)
Nose Did WHAT!?
Is that Jarrett Blass’ team that had 126.08 points this week? I’ll assume it’s all thanks to the wonderful play of the returning Steve Smith, right? Just
8.67 points? Then how did he score 126? RONNIE F*ING BROWN!? Are you kidding me? Yes, Brown was good for four rushing TD’s and a passing
TD (all against the Pat’s all-pro D, I would like to point out). Add on the 23-point showing from Marshawn Lynch and you understand where 50% of
Blass' total came from. If Chad Johnson can get moving and the Indy D can put it together (losing Sanders is clearly a problem), Jarrett, who’s a
surprising 2-1, might be heading back into the playoffs. (I don’t want to sell B’Day short – a 97-point game, and another incredible day from Michael
Turner proves he has a good team. Hopefully for him luck can swing his way soon… you know AFTER we play this week).
Coffee Gets Out of the Gutter While Handing Pigs Their First Loss
Someone give it up to Josh Lukin! After making 20 moves (!) this season so far he has rebuilt his team and given them their highest point total of the
season (and does it stop there? In week one he scored 80, in week 2, 98 and now 121… keep climbing up!). Thanks to a huge day from O’Sullivan,
Roddy White, Reggie Bush and McGahee, Josh was able to beat up on Parker’s defending champions. Props to the coach for noticing the easy
matchups and playing the optimal team (O’Sullivan vs Det, White vs KC, and McGahee vs Cleveland).
Pigs, meanwhile, posted his lowest day this year, failing to break 100 for the first time. More importantly (and probably because of it), he lost Brian
Westbrook. While word is that BBrook is optimistic about playing Week 4, this could be a huge issue for the Pigs should he be out for a few weeks.
No More Sucking For Mouth
Yeah, that IS what she said! It’s hard to take Rich serious when he says how much his team sucks. Especially when you consider that he’s on a two-
game winning streak, 7 outta 9 players brought in 10+ points this week, and TJ Hosyourmama has a big day against the Giants. Losing Shockey is
going to hurt (especially after he scored 13 points last week), but McFadden has to make you feel good. Crabs, meanwhile, fail to string two wins
together and played the reverse of Born – they only have two players that scored 10+ (thank you Manning and Cooley). Crabs is going to need more
output from Owens (and I’m not talking about a TD or two – I’m talking 3 or 4) and some help from his running backs (Lewis and Morris barley
combined for 10) if he’s looking for some more wins this season.
Bandit’s Wins A Close One
If they had each scored 10 points less, this is what our election percentages could have been – Red States 56 percent to Blue States 45 percent
(margin of error +/-1). You wish, Brock! It was a sad showing by both teams with the worst showing coming from Nick’s fair trade: 0 players with 10+
points, 1 player with 9 (Driver), 1 with 8 (Jacobs) and 3 that didn't even get to 5 points. With Willie Parker out and Matt Schaub’s job in jeapordy, Nick
might be facing more of these games. On the other side of the Internet web page, Brock saw some silver linings in Cassel, Boldin and the Dallas D.
Failures to get Graham and Winslow started really prevented Brock from putting up some solid points. And then there’s Randy Moss. What to do with
such a good player who’s QB just can’t get it to him. He’s a tough start, and even tougher sit.
Tanks Dominate the Jacobins
What to even say? LT finally get’s it moving and because of that Jason goes from his average 120-point games to a 140-point game. The Jacobins
were simply victims of bad timing – the absence of his WR core (Chamber/Toomer/Johnson combined for a little more than 20 total) prevented him
from putting up a fight. Sherman was just too dominate with Jay Cutler (22 points – is he now an MVP candidate?), Fitzgerald’s return to form and
Tomlinson\Forte’s big days. It was a dominating performance and some would argue a statement game for the Tanks. At 3-0, I for one am scare of
them.
Best of luck to everyone this week.
Swami, 2-5 last week, will be have predictions entered by the Saturday night
