Another year of heartache as we will YET AGAIN have no team go undefeated. Sad. I thought we could get one, but it wasn’t meant to be. Last year we
didn't lose out undefeated till Week 5. There's little hope that it'll ever happen, but I'm optimistic it might... you know, one day. Anyone else think it
might happen?
Ok, I move on:
Tools Retire
That’s it. I’m done. I retire. I’ve hit the top of the mountain and I’m moving on. Thank you and goodnight. 133.02-points. My first 100+ point game since
I scored 103.21 in a Week 6 loss to Nomads last year. My first 130+ game since my Week 6 win over Born in 2006. Stick a fork in me people. I’m done.
And I get Josh next week. Mr. I Don’t Lose In Week 5 (although he used to not lose in Week 1 either, and Nick changed that this year) and Mr. 6-0
against me. Ugh...
Stare Falls to 0-4
Jay has never been worse than 2-2 at this point. And with only Rivers, Crayton and Peterson going into double digits, the bleeding doesn’t look to be
stopping soon. On the other side, Navid had his first 120+ showing of the year to help him get his third win in a row. Not bad for a guy whose first week
84-point showing made this Commissioner question his year. Never again, buddy. Or at least not as long as you have Brandon Marshall on your
team. ZOINKS! He catches everything. Assuming you can get the ball moving on the ground (Gore is not on a team that will have much success
running; Rudi might help where Chris Perry has failed), it might be another ROFF Bowl visit for you.
Double G Double Dominates
It’s hard to talk smack about a team that scored 121-points even when a player is blanked (f you Bryant Johnson!). So I won’t. I’ll take this time to
applaud Scott, another 12E’er that I thought was dead after Week 1 (where he scored a paltry 67-points). It took Brett Farve’s record breaking 6 TDs
including 3 to your boy Coles (and 2 to Tank’s boy Cotchery) and a big day from Walter to set the bar for 2008 with a season high 174 points. If Farve
can have more games like that (and less like the devastating game in Week 3 at San Diego), he’ll be the best pick of the draft. Enjoy trying to figure
out that bi-polarness.
Nose Sniffs Out This Coffee
Coffee just got grinded in Week 4. After so-so performances by O’Sullivan, White and Jackson, the rest of the team failed to scratch anything big.
Bush was decent, but saw a lot of points go to Deuce, Jones suffered in the Dallas loss to Washington, and where did the Arizona defense go? - some
would argue you be happy you stayed in the positive points!
As for Nose, it was another win on a so-so day. Currently, Jarrett has put up average of just 85-points per game. And yet, he continues to win and
remains in that crucial upper-tier. And he even did it this week without a 5-TD performance by Ronnie Brown (on a bye). If Rodgers is healthy, Smith
stays out of trouble and Brown can do some big numbers, Jarrett might be able to eck out some more wins for a trip to the playoffs. This could be the
“little team that could,” My apologies for ever doubting you.
Aerial Pork Takes It On Monday Night
Poor Rich: He had him. It was in his sights. Mason’s 17 on Monday Night was the winning ticket. You know, if Pig’s didn’t have Holmes’ 13 on Monday
night. Yes, with just an 11-point lead going into Monday night, Holmes did just enough to keep Mason off him. Born can easily look back and wonder
what could have been if: McFadden had been helpful (come on – 4 lousy points??), Housh had Palmer throwing to him (9!?) and Pierre Thomas had
done what Deuce did (ARG! Just 2!?). For Deay it was all about Mushim Muhammad who’s big day in Carolina more than tripled his estimated value of
6.4. That’s what champions due – they get little people to make big impacts!
Colts Beats Down His Ol’ Friend, New Enemy
VA isn’t off to the best start: While he opened with a 99-point game, he was beaten by 20. He followed that up with a win, but that was by less than
0.40 points. And now in Week’s 3 and 4 he hasn’t been able to cross 80-points. It’s a bad showing, and his stars aren’t helping – Where is Jamal Lewis
circa 2007? Peyton Manning 2006? Hines Ward 2005? Baltimore Defense circa 2000 – 2005? The Crabs are going to need his big players to play big
if he wants to see more W’s in his win column.
As for Brock, things were looking ok this week. The one problem looks to be Boldin who’s down, but not quiet out. His 22-points were crucial in the win
this week, but his status is so unclear for the next couple of weeks, it’ll be hard to tell whether to play him or not. And he is a must play if he can go.
With no depth at QB and a hurt #1 receiver, Bandits are going to need to rebuild quickly to stay in that upper tier.
Jacobins Fine Ways to Win
Faced with adversity a few minutes into game one, Dave has figured out a way to win – just get as many points as possible. This week it took his TE,
Kicker and Defense to help him get the W. Especially since they were the only ones to cross into double digits. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a win. As for
Nick, it just want’s pretty. If you remove Randle El from the equation, he scored just 35-points – that’s an average of 4.3 points per player remaining.
And he even had two “ugh” moments as the Jags and Heap zeroed out the day.
… one positive thing for Nick: He wins 59% of his games in the second half of the season (week 7 – 13), So the best has yet to come!
Best of luck to everyone this week.
Swami, 3-4 last week, will be have predictions entered by the Saturday night
