I’m back. Did you miss me? No. Ok. Geez. So mean and on Thanksgiving, none-the-less.
Anywho, I thought I would take a second to give out columnists a little roasting this Thanksgiving. I love the guys who take the time to put all this
together and while we’ve all been a little lax this year (except for Brock who has been AMAZING!), we’ve all still produced some solid work.
So on that note, here’s me doing my own version of everyone’s column:
Random Thoughts
Working at Viacom is great. If you like having holiday parties canceled, extra work and inabilities to hire extra staff. Oh well, at least I'm also not so
good looking (damn you, Cantor!)
Some random thoughts:
- If I were a betting man, I would say Dave’s favorite new actor is Bobby Moynihan, who’s previous claim to fame was that stupid ESPN Radio “you
know us” commercial, and current claim to fame is a sketch where he palys a half white homeboy/half retard on SNL
- Is it me or am I really happy for Rich? Mardi Gras anyone?
- Josh lost his first Week 12 game ever. It’s been a hard year for Josh: He was perfect in Weeks 1, 5 and 12. After this year, he’s only perfect in
Week 5's.
- Discussion board anyone?
- This week, Dave and I became the most recent entrants to the 8,000 point club. Needing just 16.04 points, Nick will become the final team to join
the club. On a similar note: Needing just 16.57 points this week, Navid will become the first entrant to the 9,000 point club. Jason could join him
but will need 123.54 to do so.
- Parker's team reminds me of the Chargers. So close, yet so far so many weeks.
What Good Looking People Think
Hot: Crabs, who have pulled themselves up from a 1-6 beginning (where he got lucky that first win came early enough to avoid sitting on the bottom of
the pile) to a 6-6 playoff run. He’s beaten some solid teams by posting 95+ points every week since his close loss to Tanks in Week 7.
Mild: Double G - The man was solid through Week 9, but has lost to some great (NJJ) and some decent (fair trade) teams in the last three weeks.
While he’s in for the playoffs, he better hope his mojo turns around quickly.
Smoked: Nose struggled with points at the beginning of the season, but was still able to pull off a 4-2 start. Since then, his lack of points have caught
up to him, losing the last six in a row. This past week 106 point showing was a highlight, but not enough to keep him out of Toilet Bowl contention.
Good luck this week versus Stare.
The Brockast
VO: From Epsteinville Manor, in Epstevannia, New York, on the border of Marcstown, it’s Marc Epstein!
Marc: Yo, yo, yo… what’s up. We got a great show lined up for you all today. We’re going to shit on some teams, shit on politics, hate on some players
and, before we leave, shit on my team while praising it at the same time. I'm loving me some Crabs this week. This late run is amazing and you have to
respect it. As for the Toilet Bowl teams, good luck to 2 r's 2 t's and the Spaniard. Neither one of you should be on the Bowl. That said, I'm happy it's not
me. Now first off [cough, cough]. Whoa. Don’t know where that came from. Hang on a sec.
Background Noise: Shuffling of papers. Water being poured. Drinking noises
Marc: Ahhhh… sorry about that. [cough, cough]. Whoa – no idea what’s going on. You know, I had a granola bar this morning. That tasty treat is a lot
to handle. THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! We’ll be back with some hating in a second …
Playoff Countdown
Here’s the gist. I'm not in. I want to be in, but I'm not. In order to get in, I'll need A) luck B) skill and C) more luck. Chart showing my luck to win ratio is
pending. So good luck!
It was a slow day at work :-)
Some quick stats:
Of the top 100 players (sorted by TOTAL fantasy points thus far):
- Drew Brees (B’Day) is number one, beating Kurt Warner (B2RMM) 268.92 – 261.15
- Nomads has the most players with 11 (Garrard is his highest at number 16), Tanks and Pigs have 9 and B’Day and Tools has 8. HOWEVER:
Shermtanks have the most players in the top 25 with 4, and Colt’s and Tools have 3.
- Five Second Stare has the fewest in the top 100 with 4 (only Rivers appears in the top 25 - #3 with 241.70 points))
- The top 9 players in the league are all quarterbacks
- The top WR is Anquan Boldin at #10 (Colt .45) followed by Arizona teammate Larry Fitzgerald at #15 (Shermtanks)
- The top RB is Matt Forte at #14 (Shermtanks), followed by Maurice Jones-Drew at #18 (Coffee on 3rd) and Marion Barber at #19 (NJJ)
- The top TE is Tony Gonzalez at #38 (Nomads), followed by Antonia Gates at #76 (Tools)
- Not included in the top 100 rankings are defenses and kickers: Eight defenses have scored over 150 points this season. Tampa Bay (FSS) is #1
with 173 points, followed by Baltimore (FBC) with 169. There are 8 kickers worth more than 100 points this year, including Stephen Gostkowski
(fair trade) the number one kicker in points.
Points
The league is righting itself in regards to points/wins. In Week 7 I pointed out a discrepecnty whereas some teams who scored a lot of points where
falling towards the bottom of the pile. That situation has changed. Everyone in the top 7 in points is also in the top 7 in the overall standings. The
bottom 7 are all mixed up, with Crab and Trade having high ranks, but low points and Stare and Pigs having high points and low ranks. Could Week 13
change all this?
That's all I have for today. Good luck to the bubble teams. It's going to be nailbiter to the very end. Hopefully everyone will get early Xmas\Channuka
gifts this year with a playoff berth.
Good luck to all! See you on the other side (whichever side that may be)
