| Baltimore Tools vs Five Second Stare The more things change… Last year 5SS and BT met in week 1 and the result was similar to 2003. 5SS won. But then again, he was a Champ last year, and living in SI. Now he’s a 5th place loser living in Murray Hill. Hey 5: I had Keshayn once. And Galloway. And Barlow. And I am forever on The Toliet Bowl. Ready to join me? PICK: TOOLS propaganda vs Nose My Russian friend takes on a man described by only his longest and thickest body part. While propaganda had the disadvantage of picking from thousands of miles away, his draft still gave him the most imposing defense in the league: the Ravens. Vick could continue to be a fantasy bust in Philly this week, but McAllister and Davis should have good days vs. Carolina and Buffalo. While Nose’s team continues to be a wild card with some strong question marks on it (as outlined by Cantor’s post), It looks like this could be a solid week for him, playing some weak defenses. Blass started out 3-0 in his rookie season, before losing 7 in a row. Put one in the win column, but wait and see what happens in week 4. PICK: NOSE SNIFFS SOME RUSSIAN COKE Nomads in the Deep vs Brick Walls & Trees I sh*t you not: Yahoo has this game projected to be 103.99 – 103.02 in favor of the Trees. Now I know Navid is all about those close victories (and close losses, look at his 1-4 start last year), but that isn’t going to cut it this year. Vick is gone, Brees is gone and Holmes is splitting time. Must get those wins when you can. Sadly not this week. I’ m giving Trees the advantage because of a much stronger WR core (Wayne, Chambers and Stallworth). But I have to agree with Yahoo: It’s going to be a close one. PICK: SIT AND WATCH A TREE GROW Shermtanks vs Colt .45’s My Upper East Side brethren find each other in their respective faces early in the season. The winner of this will have bragging rights for weeks to come. And I will have to hear it all. Man, I wish this could end in a tie. Moore is in love with his team, anchored by two quality keep’d running backs in Portis and Jones. Adding on Johnson, Mason and Kennison is a huge help to team that started 2-4 last year. On the flip side (and isn’t there always one) is Tanks. Coming off their second second place finish in as many years, Tanks is determined to make one more run at it with Manning and Lewis (a great Vegas lounge act, too). And funny thing: Manning and Lewis play each other this week., down in Baltimore (watch the game, my brother, another shout out, read email, YEAH!). Tanks went 4-1 last year out of the gate. Will history repeat itself, or flip? PICK: COLTS SHOW MORE HORSEPOWER IN WEEK 1 Brock’s Bandits vs NJ Jacobins Caracas is no more. Now it’s straight up Jersey Ball. Our last place team, 2-11 Allocco, sends his newly formatted team into the field to face the SECOND to last place team, the 3-10 Bandit’s. Look for Allocco to be above .500 for the first time, um, since, hmmm… was it 2003? And while the Bandits avoided the cellar last year by one more win, look for him to jump into the loss column early. I will say this – you two are going to have fun on Thursday with Moss/Vinatieri (Jacobins) playing Brady/Branch (Bandits). PICK: NEW JERSEY IS FOR WINNERS Born To Run My Mouth vs Blade Brown It would be hard for any of us to pick against Rich this week. Rich, as everyone has said numerous times, you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. And I’m sure you have 13 couches you are more than welcome to crash on anytime (including one smelly one in Russia). That said (nothing but love Rich, seriously), let’s talk some Fantasy – it is more fun than reality. Rich’s team is solid, what with the return of big point getters McNabb and Green. If Cadillac is all he’s supposed to be, he could be a force to recon with. On the flip side Brown has a nice one-two punch with Kerry Collins and returning drama Queen Owens. If Anderson continues the Denver world-class running back legacy, Brown will be a contender for weeks to come. But the edge goes to Rich. No man wants more to be in a fantasy. PICK: BORN TO BEAT BROWN Duckville Quackers vs Married with Ravens This time last year, we all discussed what it would be like with Deay and Lukin on the other coast. While we lost Parker, Lukin stayed an East Coaster. Hey, that has to be worth something right? So let’s look at East Coast vs. West Coast. East Coast wise, Lukin puts up Burress, McGahee (ok, Buffalo is not East Coast, but were trying to make it work), and Matt Stover. While Deay’s West Coasters include McCardell, Plummer (again, Denver is close enough) and Josh Brown. Based ONLY ON THIS, I’m predicting the East Coast to reign (hey, maybe I’m bias… bite me!)
