| Baltimore Tools vs. Married With Ravens Time 12:34 am. Bedtime was an hour ago. Luckily Bobby Brown’s “On Your Own (Ghostbusters II)” on repeat is keeping me awake (see lyrics on RO.com homepage). I was going to go to bed and post this tomorrow after work, but then I started to look at the match-ups – this is about as good as it gets. How can I not write on it now? Lukin and I are 3-3, and the winner of this game will be one step closer to the playoffs, while the other will be behind a rock that they will find it hard to get out of. While I admittedly have some WR issues, look for the favorable match ups (Washington at home vs San Fran? James vs the Texans?) to put another W in my column. PICK: TOOLS Blade Brown vs. Five Second Stare 2-4 vs. 3-3. Five comes to the table without Galloway for the first time since week 2 (in the last four weeks he has averaged 19 points per game). Five also sends Aaron Brooks back onto the field, in hopes he replicates his 23 point performance from last week… when he was on the bench. Look for Tomlinson to be slowed down by Philly, and Tatum Bell to be stopped (yes, STOPPED) by the Giants. As for Brown, Dillion goes on a well deserved bye, while Collins/Owens look to light up Buff/San D. Look for Chicago D to have a good game vs. Baltimore and for Brown to even them up at 3-4. PICK: BROWN SNAPS 3 GAME SLIDE New Jersey Jacobins vs. Nose 3-3 vs. 4-2. The Jacobins need a big win, and they need it quickly. While 3-3 is good, the slide in the last six weeks hasn’t been pretty. With Vinatieri on a bye (average of 7.5 points per game), Gonzalez in Miami and Moss injured, this could be a tough week. As for Nose, his bread and butter QB hits a bump against Pitt, while Jackson rolls over NO. If Chris Brown can get some points against Arizona, Nose could smell a win. PICK: JACOBINS CAN’T FIGHT THE RUNNY NOSE Colt .45's vs. Brick Walls & Trees 4-2 vs. 6-0. Sorry Gregg – someone has to play him. BW&T is dominant this year, and will prove it again with favorable match-ups at the RB position (Jordan against Buff, Westbrook against San D) and Indy’s D will destroy Houston. Look for the big ? to be McCown – will Bulger’s injury affect BW&T’s that much, or can McCown help out the team? As for C45, the coach may be in Chicago this weekend for the World Series, but that doesn’t mean the team gets the week off. Farve returns and should light up Miami, Portis will bulldoze San Fran, but Cincy’s D and WR Johnson will struggle against Pitt. If there is one thing I know for sure: Don’t bet against Scott… PICK: COLTS CAN’T HURRDLE WALL propaganda vs. Born To Run My Mouth 2-4 vs. 1-5. While propo has the better record, Born has more points. Not by much, but definitely more. If propo can pull off this win, he might have a chance to make a late season run for the playoffs. If Mouth gets this win, he will HAVE to make a late season run if he wants to make the playoffs. This match-up may be uglier than last weeks prop/Married matchup which netted a season low 142 points. Look for Born to struggle with 8 players playing away from home, and playing teams with names like Broncos, Falcons, Eagles and Giants. Not that propo has any easy task, with Frerotte playing KC’s defense (of which is made up of a lot of ex-Dolphins), Davis against Indy and Sproles against Philly. It’s really a crapshoot on this one, but Born does seem to have the edge. PICK: NO PROPOGANDA FROM THIS MOUTH Nomads in the Deep vs. Brock’s Bandit 4-2 vs. 5-1. This is probably the best match-up of the week, if not the year. Nomads two losses came during their two lowest scoring day’s of the season – 92 points in Week 5 (with Holmes on a bye) and 103 in week 1. Bandit’s lowest scoring game (81 in week 4) still netted him a win, but a week one 130 point game (second best of his all year) was where the loss came. The point? These two are very good, and can win some tough games. Brock has some great match-ups this week, with Brady back-up Brunell taking on the SF D and Holt playing NO. He’s also got some tough match-ups with Alexander and Rudi taking on Dallas and Pittsburgh, and his Buff D facing a Moss-less Oakland. Nomads meanwhile sends Holmes and Dunn against some pathetic AFC East teams (Miami and the Jets), but has some challenges with Hasselbeck against Dalllas and Housh returns to face Pitt (and the fact that Steve – 21 points per game – Smith is on a bye this week). It’s a tough call and this is truly anyone’s game. I know I can’t pass on this, so I will step out onto this limb and take Bandits. PICK: BANDITS DON’T TAKE KIND TO NOMADS Duckville Quackers vs. Shermtanks 1-5 vs. 1-5. Someone will walk away with playoff hopes. Someone will walk away thinking hard about next season. Duck starts the McNabb era (lifespan 7 weeks) with this showdown in San Diego. Look for Harrison, Moore and Crumpler to shine. For the Tanks, Manning will offset anything Harrison does on the other side, and LJ will help defuse the McNabb situation. As for getting ahead, Jones might finally come alive in Cleveland, and the Philly D should stop over SD. Here’s my one question though: I see Mason on the board ready to play – where is Jamal? PICK: FOR THE FIRST TIME ALL YEAR – I PICK SHERMTANKS TO WIN |
