Dorfman vs
Baltimore Tools
I talked some shit. Dorf talked some shit. Parker took a side. No
one came to my defense. Nothing. No one. So you know what?
You all are dead to me. My beating of Dorf this week is just the
beginning…
PICK: TOOLS
Fighting Blue Crabs vs
Five Second Stare
I’m happy to see Gregg at 1-3. Ok, calm down. I know that sounds
mean, but a “desperate Gregg” means a “trading Gregg.” And with
Chad on a bye this week, it could be tough for him to win, especially
with Cantor coming off a 108 point game last week (with Galloway
on the bench). And while all signs point to a Five win (what with
McAllister taking on a TB defense that could give up a big run to
Jarrett and with a Philadelphia D exposing the issues with Dallas), I
think Crabs have a good chance on taking this: Manning will light
up Tennesse, Lewis should run well on Monday night, and
Pittsburgh comes back from a bye to beat up on Rivers… love it.
Give these seconds to the Crabs
PICK: CRABS TAKE THEIR TIME TO WIN
Shermtanks vs
OC Beach Ballers
This game is a big test for Jay. After coming out of the gate with
two wins, he stumbled the last two weeks to fall to .500. But those
were weeks when key players were on a bye. This week, he has to
prove to himself – and the league – that he only lost due to that
fact. But this week he get’s the 3-1 Ballers, who somehow always
find a way to win. After a slow start out of the gate (76 points in
week 1), the Ballers have come on strong of late, scoring an
average of 110 points per game in the last three. This week he
sends Huard against Arizona (which could be a good play since the
D of Arizona will be tired from being on the field so much in
Leinart's debut), Jordan against San Fran (which could finally make
him a good “start”) and the New England D against Culpepper who
spends more time on his back than Brock mom (ZING!). Tanks
meanwhile have Tomlinson facing a tough Pitt D, Bledsoe facing
Philly and he’s playing the San Francisco D as Seattle takes a
rest. Put a W in the OC’s column.
PICK: TANKS CAN’T ROLL ON BEACH
Nose vs
Born to Run My Mouth
Nose was so excited about Born being in town, he set up a party
Friday night. Now if that’s not love, I don’t know what is. Now he
should throw the game, since Born has no chance, especially with
the loss of Housh and Alexander on their bye weeks. Sure, Nose
will be effected by the loss of Palmer, but Grossman is a good play
facing Buffalo. Born’s 2-2 team just doesn’t look good enough this
week to beat the Nose. Oh, and did I mention that Nose is the only
team this season to score over 100 points per game every week?
PICK: NOSE OUTSHINES MOUTH
Inching Worms vs
Brock’s Bandits
You won’t hear any “Rudi, Rudi” chants from the Bandits fans this
week as he enjoys his bye. Getting the start – Michael Turner, LT’s
backup. An interesting start, especially when you realize that he
has been worth 31 points this season, including 7 last week – his
worst day of the year so far. Of course, plopping him down against
Pittsburgh could be an issue. After being served a helping of
humble pie last week (after two very close wins prior to it), the
Bandits are looking to beat the Worms, who have their own share of
nail biters. Here’ something interesting: the two games the Worms
went OVER 100 points they lost; the two games the Worms went
UNDER 100 points they won. Things that make you go
“Hmmmm…” This week Worms will get the win behind Harrison
(against Tennessee), James and Addai. Don’t discount the Bandits
and their Carolina D, Bruce and Brady. But don’t count on them
either.
PICK: WORMS EAT THROUGH BANDITS
New Jersey Jacobins vs
Canton FC
Yet another Born in NJ vs. Born in NJ battle for the Jacobins.
Canton is having an exceptional year thanks to the Baltimore D,
Wes Welker, and Reggie Bush. Hasselbeck hasn’t been everything
Canton wanted him to be (Culpepper 2005?), and Brunell get’s his
first Canton start while Matt’s on a bye. Brunell has had two solid
games in the past weeks, and could again against a Giants D that
gave Hasselbeck his best day of the year so far (35 points – more
than half his yearly total). Meanwhile Jacobins throw McNabb up
against Dallas, Moss in San Fran and Barber against Washington.
I am not overly confident with Jacobins this week specially since he
has the Oakland D playing (yes I think Alex Smith will throw a pick or
two, but I also think Gore will run a few in). I gave Dave an
engagement present by picking him in week 1. I just don’t think I
can do it for his birthday too. Tell you what, I’ll buy you the first
drink Saturday night instead.
PICK: CANTON TAKES OUT JACOBINS
labor power vs
Nomads in the Deep
I love a good battle of the Champs. Of course, you have more than
that going on: In just four years, Navid has brought his team to fifth
in the lifetimes standings in wins (31-25) and fourth in points
(5,163.11). Meanwhile, Nick has never had a season over .500
and currently ranks last in wins (22-34) and points (4,655.73). Now
his team is 0-4 and in a must win situation: A loss this week virtually
means that he will need to win every other game this season (not
unheard of) to make the playoffs. That’s going to be a big feat,
especially with Jackson, Dunn and Dayne on bye’s this week.
Nomads meanwhile is playing a semi-full – and healthy – team, that
includes Steve Smith (against Cleveland), Larry Johnson (against
Arizona) and Frank Gore (against Oakland). His one affected by?
His kicker Graham. It looks like he’s considering playing without a
kicker this week, rather than drop a player. My pick with a kicker:
Nomads. My pick without a kicker: Yep, still Nomads.
PICK: NOMADS CONTINUE THEIR REBOUND
