Thank Commish.
So as the Commish said, what should we talk about? ROFF Bowl VI IS another match-up for the ages. So let's break down the teams:
Looks like Parker takes the edge here. But don’t forget that Brees started the season terribly and without McAllister or Bush, he’s come on strong of
late. Still, I’d rather be playing the St. Louis D this weekend…
I purposely made sure to add in “receiver stats” to the chart above. You really don’t get the whole picture of Westbrook without it. From a strictly
running standpoint, Tanks clearly have the advantage thanks to Tomlinson (Parker has the yards, but where are the TD’s?). But add in receptions
and receiving yards and Westbrook looks pretty good. He’s two players for the price of one, and the wildcard this weekend for sure. For Parker’s
sake, hopefully he won’t stop at the one yard line again.
Geez – Tanks, Tanks, Tanks. What the chart doesn’t clearly show you is that Fitzgerald has a nagging injury, Marshall has legal issues and Porter
has QB problems. It also does nothing to highlight the fact that Horses has all of their players at home on Sunday… and they are all in the playoff
hunt.
Pretty evenly matched, I was most surprised with the average yards per game of Daniels. But unless he can find the endzone this weekend – which
Lee does thanks to Frank’s injury – he’ll just be a receiver with few touches.
Ah kickers – the ultimate game changers. Sure they can’t win it for you (unless they’re Kris Brown), but they can hurt you badly. Look for both to
contribute, but not change the game.
Woo… with defenses like this, who needs offense? And look at that – Jason get’s the lowly Texans and Parker, the Kyle Orton show. While kickers
won’t be the difference makers, I have no doubt that one of these two dominate defenses will be.
So there you have it – a tough call. Deay has had Sherman’s number in the past, beating him in four of their six meetings and most recently in Week
7 of this year when Deay squeaked away with a 4.03 victory.
Actually, here’s something interesting. What if they played each other EVERY week this year?
Looks like Tanks would have won eight of their 15 outings. Whoa. That’s pretty evenly matched.
Historically I don’t make predictions on the Championship games. I don’t want it to seem like I am playing favorites. But I’ll be honest here: I love that
these two are going head-to-head. They are two of the best – and nicest – people in the world and I would be proud to have either of their names on
our trophy.
But I’m not making a prediction again, but I will say this: I’m going to enjoy watching my stat tracker this weekend!
Good luck to Jason and Parker. You both deserve to be there and should be proud of your amazing seasons. May the best team win.
