| Maryland Tools (√) vs. Double G Scott had a lot to say about my team on Brock’s second podcast. Sure, he was asked who had the worst draft. But he didn’t have to answer me. Especially cause it wasn't THAT bad... right? Regardless, last weekend I showed him (and the league) that my team can perform. And he showed us… that maybe he was wrong. This weekend, I’m checking you off my list of revenge games this year. Shermtanks (√) vs. Five Second Stare Ah yes, the Battle of the J’s. Stare didn’t have a horrible week last week, but he STILL would have lost to the Tanks. Since these two started meeting in 2008, Jason has a slight 3-2 lead in the series, even though Cantor has consistently put up 100 points or more each time they have played. Yahoo has him doing it again this week… and losing. Overall looking at this game it comes down to matchups. And Cantor's going to see Rivers face Denver, Holt and Crayton play the Giants and Eagles respectively and Peterson against Indy (which struggled last week but can’t be that bad). I truly think Jason has an easier matchup with Fotre against Carolina and Burress able to run (catch?) all over he Rams. So I’m taking the J that lives in the room next to mine. Nose vs. Nomads in the Deep (√) Nose didn’t look great last week and – in a shocker – neither did the Nomads. But in Fantasy Football, redemption is just a week away. And for Nomads that’s going to come in the form of Frank Gore, Roy Williams, David Garrard and Tony Gonzalez. Yahoo’s got this as a 30 point blow out by the Nomads and I agree. Soaring Pigs vs. B'Day (√) I never thought I would say this: Parker is about to meet his match and his match’s name is B’Day. Brian is on the cusp of something great here and I have a good feeling about this. Look for Chris Johnson to run all over Cincy and Dwayne Bowe to be the Eddie Royal of this week (yes, I did just make that claim). Brian will struggle with Steven Jackson against the shut-em down Giants D. Parker's also going to have a tough day, but a day that will show him the true essence of his team: Are Addai and Westbrook built to handle tough defenses (vs. Min and Dallas respectively)? Does McNabb have the WR depth to prove that last week wasn't a fluke? Is Wes Welker's fantasy value shot? For now I’m calling Brian to win. But it’ll be the best game of the week. Fighting Blue Crabs vs. Coffeeon3rd (√) Round 2 for the rookie and he’s hoping the outcome is better than round 1. Of course with Jamal taking on Pitt and Manning against Minn, it might be difficult. Look for Coffee’s Palmer to have a decent day and for Bush to get some more yards/catches at Washington’s home opener. Is this the week the rookie get’s his first W? Nope. Not quite yet. fair trade (√) vs. Born To Run My Mouth These two always seem to be at the bottom of the heap. But last year Rich proved he could roll with the big dogs. Now it’s Nicks turn. After last week’s statement game, Nick looks to make it two-in-a-row for fair trade. Schaub will attack Baltimore’s aging D, Parker will roll over Cleveland and Jacobs is going to make St. Louis forget about those late 90’s Super Bowls. As for Born, they should prove they're a better team than the 73-point showing last week, but won’t have enough to win this contest unless James can get moving against Miami and Romo can have a decent day at home against Philly. One of two will happen, but he’ll need both to win. New Jersey Jacobins vs. Colt .45 Bandits (√) What to say, what to say. Let’s see here: Dave drafts Brady in the first round with the promise from Brock that they will trade assuming Brees is available later in the round. He’s not. The trade does not happen. Dave keeps Brady. Brock is sad. Three weeks later Brady goes down. In comes Matt Cassel. Who picks him up on the wire? Brock, of course. So after all that, Brock wind’s up with NE’s QB after all. Guess it was just meant to be. So this week it’ll be Cassel to Moss trying to resurrect 2007’s “Brady to Moss” combo. Will it work? We’ll see. In the meantime, I like Graham and Stewart this week and Boldin’s chances for Miami (against them, not on the team... yet). The Jacobins will fare better than they people think, but won’t have enough movement on the ground (Barber against Philly… um, Leon Washington against New England… um, no) to get things going for the win. That’s all I got for this, Friday, September 12, 2008. Good luck to all this week. Congrats to Jason Cantor who's 6 correct picks make him this weeks winner. HOW DID YOU DO THIS WEEK? |
