| Maryland Tools (√) vs. New Jersey Jacobins No Orton. No Defense. No chance. Dave’s team has found ways to win, so by no means do I think this will be easy. But I do think my team is finally starting to gel. One more catch for a TD and we would have won last week and been 2-1 in the last three weeks. Regardless, this is going to be a win and make me a cool 4-4 (I hope). Five Second Stare vs. Colt .45 Bandits (√) Brock seems to have all the luck this season and Cantor definitely does not have any. That said, it was Brock who Cantor’s franchise beat the last time they started this badly. Still, I’m sticking to my guns and not picking him till he wins. Double G (√) vs. Born To Run My Mouth Scott’s been en fuego of late and with league leader Portis being given the chance to run all over Detroit, well, I like his chances to extend to 7-in-a- row. Another reason to choose Scott over Rich: Rich is starting Cedric Benson, and after all the success he and I had last year, how could I possibly root for him? Nomads in the Deep (√) vs. Coffeeon3rd Josh struggled at the beginning of the year, but had come back in a big way in Weeks 5 and 6 with 100+ games and big wins. He stumbled in Week 7 and Week 8 seems to hold no promises of a brighter future: Bush is out with an injury, Anderson fell back to earth last week, and Moore’s production could be cut into with the potential return of Willie Parker in Pitt. As for Navid, Brandon Marshall takes his bye week and the last tiem the Nomads played without the star Den WR, he scored just 84 points in a loss. He’s 4-2 since then but could suffer this week, especially if Joey Galloway is the replacement. Overall this could be a tough match for both and with near .500 records, it could be an important one that pushes the other in the wrong direction. Am I rambling yet? Yes? Ok, fine: Nomads. B'Day vs. Shermtanks (√) Brian has had some bad breaks this year. Jason has been dominate this year. This week presents some interesting situations: First off, this is Jason’ s most vulnerable week, with Cutler and Forte on a bye and LT in London (not a pattern yet, but the Phins\NYG didn’t exactly put up big fantasy numbers abroad last year). As for Brian, he sends Brees and Lance Moore to jolly ol’ England to do battle, and could see limited productivity by Jackson against a resurged Pats team. It’s another tough call, but betting against Jason at this point would be stupid of me. So for now, the slight edge to the Tanks, if only because luck seems to be in his favor. fair trade (√) vs. Nose Can Matt Schaub put some more W’s up for Nick? As Serrano extended his win streak to two last week (after a 4 game losing slide), it was Matt Schaub’s late TD that knocked Parker out. As for Nose, he’ll send in Roethlisberger against the Giants did while Aaron Rodgers is on a bye. This is really a battle of some low scorers (the two lowest in our league). In fact, fair has only gone century twice, while Nose has only done it once. For once Nose might be right: They won’t be putting up many points. One way or another, Nick will be getting the W. Fighting Blue Crabs vs. Soaring Pigs (√) Parker desperately needs a W. The former champ came out of the gate strong going 3-1. But three close losses in a row, and a decreased average number of points (Weeks 1-4: 109.03; Weeks 5-7: 89.38), have left the Bacon at a 3-4 record and in a fight for the playoffs. I’m not counting VA out, but things look good for Parker as McNabb and Westbrook return to face Atlanta. Add on VA’s issues with Ward (against NYG) and Morris (will he play? will time be limited?) and this could put Parker back at even. That’s all I got for this, Thursday, October 23, 2008. Good luck to all this week. Scott continues his dominance with another 6 pick week, giving him a 38-11 record and making him right 77% of the time. HOW DID YOU DO THIS WEEK? (Please note: In last week’s Swami I clearly choose FSS to lose, but accidentally put the check mark next to his name – a move I repeated on the Yahoo page. I have counted that against myself as a “wrong”) |
