Week 8

QUICK NOTES
  1. Congratulations to the winners of week 8
  2. Quote of the week, “Memories are wonderful things, if you don't have to deal with the past.” – Before Sunset
  3. The Good Looking Quote of Last Week: “All he needs is a relatively good game from Daunte and he'll make
the leap from very good team, to major title contender."
  4. Check out the new column, “It’d be funny if…”
  5. The new Gatorade commercial with Jordan missing, Posada missing, and Montana missing is the best I’ve
    seen in a while.
  6. Congrats to Gregg!  Karen is an awesome woman and you’re an awesome GM.  I can’t think of a better
couple.  I’m ecstatic for both of you.
  7. I will never admit that any of you are better looking then me.

HANDSOME (BEAUTIFUL) NOMADS IN THE DEEP (last week: BRICK WALLS AND TREES) – There are four
people for sure people don't want to see win this league.  Jason, Navid, Jarrett and me and personally Navid tops my
list (nothing against you Navid, I'm just envious).  He's got the must explosive player in the league with Steve Smith,
touchdown freaks in Holmes and Davis, and has great supporting guys in Driver, Housh, and Hasselbeck.  At this
point, he's got to be the favorite to win this year and I hate him for it.

HOT BRICK WALLS AND TREES (last week: NOMADS IN THE DEEP) – My record stays alive, 8 in a row baby!  But
the lose reveals some weaknesses for Scotty Watts (whose next 5 weeks really mean nothing).  With Joe Horn back
Stallworth drops a bit and more obviously, Kurt Warner is his starting QB.  The team relies heavily on Westbrook and
Jordan so if they have an off week, BWT's are just as beatable as any other in this league.

SEXY BROCK'S BANDITS (last week: BROCK'S BANDITS) – I'm giving Brock's team another week to redeem itself.
They've had two rough ones in a row but not surprisingly he didn't have (or use) Tom Brady.  With Brady starting
again this week and Alexander coming off the bye, look for Brock to get back in the win column and regain his spot
as one of the best teams in the league.  Not up for grabs, nicest ass in the league.  That baby belongs to the Bandits.

GOOD-LOOKING NOSE (last week: MARRIED WITH RAVENS) – You get, you give.  Joe Horn is now back and that
really helps Nose.  But now Boldin is out 2-4 weeks so the wide receiver situation in NoseTown is still up in the air.
Still, it's hard to discount a team with Carson Palmer and Steven Jackson, who has become at least twice as good
since Martz has lost his job.

CUTE MARRIED WITH RAVENS (last week: NOSE) - Despite the loss this week and the loss of Fitzgerald and the
loss of Culpepper, I think Lukin's team has gotten better.  The deal for Plummer, l Crumpler, and Booker for
Fitzgerald (I don't count Desmond Clark as a real player) upgraded Lukin at quarterback and tight end.  Losing
Fitzgerald will hurt but Burress can hold down the #1 spot and Bryant and Hall are good fill-ins till Jackson returns.  In
what I think is the match of the week, Lukin has a tough match-up with the Nose and he'll be starting his favorite
Quarterback of the future, David Carr.

ATTRACTIVE BLADE BROWN (last week: BALTIMORE TOOLS) - The assassin's team has looked good the last
couple of weeks and even though he'll lose Owens for a couple of weeks (I still have no idea why you kept him) I
expect B. Yeung to make a nice push to the playoffs.  Joey Porter had a breakout week last week, Dillon is starting
again in New England and Heath Miller solidifies a very balanced squad.

DECENT DUCKVILLE QUACKERS (last week: COLT .45'S) - Undefeated in the McNabb era, the Quackers head into
NomadLand in week 8.  Even though I felt Lukin got the better end of the deal for Plummer, Parker didn't want him
(hoping McNabb doesn’t opt for surgery) so the trade for him was really Booker and Crumpler for Fitzgerald so
Parker's team really did improve.  He now has LF and Marvin Harrison, plus Julius is coming back soon and McNabb
puts up good numbers because the Eagles never run the ball.  Parker is a team that has become much improved
through trades…..

EH COLT .45'S (last week: BLADE BROWN) - ….. on the other hand…. since Gregg's newly traditional fire-sale he's
lost 3 in a row.  He has to hope that J.J. Arrington starts to break out a bit and that he can get consistent games from
Favre and Portis.  When his team is working on all cylinders, Gregg has the ability to put up 140 point weeks.  And of
course Gregg is getting married over the weekend so whether you want to have sex with him or not, you can't until he
gets back from his Honeymoon.

NOT INTERESTED FIVE SECOND STARE (last week: DUCKVILLE QUACKERS) - Despite the record and the point
total my team is too Jekyll and Hyde to rate higher than this.  The truth is that Bell will only get 10-12 carries per
game and I just have to prayer he breaks one, Galloway and Keyshawn are old, there's no way Neil Rackers can
keep this up, and apparently L.T. will not keep me in every game week in and week out.  I have a tough match up
against Born to Run My Mouth, good luck Cajun Kiss.

IF I HAD A FEW DRINKS IN ME NEW JERSEY JACOBINS (last week: FIVE SECOND STARE) - Dave's team made
quite a statement this past week by beating the last undefeated team in our league.  Brees played great last week
and so did Tony G.  Both of those guys can put up those numbers regularly so if you combine them with Tiki and a
healthier Randy Moss, Dave's team looks good on paper.  When (if) Reuben Droughns starts scoring touchdowns,
Dave might have two complete backs and just might be returning to the playoffs.

NOT GOOD LOOKING BALTIMORE TOOLS (last week: BORN TO RUN MY MOUTH) - I had to drop Marc because
of the horrific performance but you can't assume he'll stay down here.  Curtis and Edge return to the line up and
Trent Green might have had that watershed game last week.  His wide outs this week look good.  I don't think Moss
will play that poorly again, Jimmy Smith is a good start every week and Roy Williams returns to the line up in Detroit
against a weak D in Minnesota.

ONLY FOR $1 MILLION BORN TO RUN MY MOUTH (last week: NEW JERSEY JACOBINS) - Kiss has won two in a
row and I'm petrified of his team.  Eli against San Fran and Taylor against Houston could be 50+ points right there.
Kiss is content on benching Cadillac until he can prove he's healthy.  And in what is a clear case of fantasy vs.
reality, I have Tomlinson against the Jets and Kiss has Coles.  I am rooting against the Jets and if I told my brother
this, he'd kill me.

IF I WAS BLIND PROPAGANDA (last week: SHERMTANKS) - Nick is out of the cellar and rightfully so.  He had a
huge week and it's time that I start giving him a bit more credit.  Darren Sproles gives him those valuable return
points, Dominick Davis is the sole option in Houston and Antonio Gates played like a man possessed against KC.
He's still weak at QB and WR but if he can pull off the win against Jason this week, he'll be at 4-5 which means he'd
be in the thick of the playoff chase.

GROSS SHERMTANKS (last week: PROPAGANDA) - The mighty have officially fallen.  I will say this, Cedric Benson
finally played well last week for the brief time in the game and KJ ran well against a tough Chicago Defense.  This
week he's starting Peyton, Lewis, Jones, LJ Smith, and Derrick Mason.  Clearly his team is worse than it looks on
paper.
