Extra Slice – Player Profile: For Chanukah, my brother and I got our third brother a throwback Randall Cunningham Eagles jersey. And it reminded me of how great a QB he was. (think you know about him? Take the quiz!)
Cunningham, was drafted in 1985, was one of the first so-called “black quarterbacks.” In 1987, he took over the Eagles offense from Ron Jaworski and in four years average more than 3,000 yards and 24 TDs passing per year. He also lead the team in rushing in 1990 with 942. And, oh yeah, he also punted the ball a few times, too. Cunningham left football in 1996, but returned to play for the Vikings in 1997. In 1998, the Vikes set the (then) single-season points record, as Randall threw for more than 3,700 yards and 34 TDs. Minnesota dominated the league, going 16-1 before falling to Atlanta in the NFC Championship game. Cunningham finally retired in 2002 and some argue that Cunningham’s stats make him a Hall of Famer. So where is he now? Well, Pastor Cunningham now presides over the Remnant Ministries in Las Vegas.
And for those of you who need a visual reminder, take a look at the elusive Randall Cunningham (and Happy Chanukah, Adam):
Great Job finding the man!! I may join his ministry.
