Extra Slice – Peyton Manning Week: Last week Sports Illustrated published a great article about Peyton Manning: The Pitchman. In it the author goes through what makes Peyton the ultimate pitchman (his timing, his ability to laugh at himself, etc). “We stop for a Peyton Manning commercial,” the author states. “We shush the room for a Peyton Manning commercial. And then the game returns, and we go back to hoping he gets sacked. Such is the power of comedy. Manning can win over his loudest haters with 30 seconds of bemused idiot-box philosophy.”

In honor of this year’s league MVP and the upcoming Super Bowl (in which he’ll appear ONLY in commercials), we’ll spend the week looking at some of Peyton’s top ads. First up: The classic Mastercard commercial
